Podomatic is a site to both record and store podcasts (and it’s free for a basic account).

Yesterday, I recorded test podcasts with teachers at Lower East Side Prep in Manhattan. We recorded them onto a PC using an external USB mic (which was my favorite new microphone, the Blue Snowflake). We just quickly used the built-in Windows Sound Recorder, which created a .wav file, and we uploaded those files to my Podomatic page. This all happened quickly and painlessly.

You can also record audio straight to Podomatic, but I’ve found that to be a little painful, especially when dealing with overstressed Internet connections at schools. And even with a mic, it doesn’t sound so great.

(I still prefer gcast for recording, basically because it’s so easy.)
